Conditions of Competition

All participation in the IFYS Foster Care $10K Basket Competition (the Competition) is to be strictly in accordance with the following terms and conditions:

  1. The Competition is to be conducted during the half-time interval at the Cairns Taipans Home Game at Cairns Convention Centre. The game is scheduled to commence at 7pm AEST on 9 November 2019.
  2. The Competition is a single event and there will be no lead up or qualifying competition.
  3. Professional Basketball Players, Ex-professional Basketball Players, Semi-professional or College/Varsity Basketball Players are ineligible to participate.
  4. One (1) only contestant is to be selected at random from the crowd. Selection will be effected by draw of a patron’s seat number from a barrel by, or at the direction of, our Adjudicator.
  5. A patron whose seat number is drawn must be sitting in their seat when the number is drawn in order to be eligible. Patrons away from their seats when the seat number is drawn will not be eligible.
  6. The opportunity to compete for the $10,000 prize money is only available to the holder of the first seat number that is drawn. If the person allocated to the chosen seat is not actually sitting in it at the moment that the chosen seat number is drawn and called, then a second draw will be called for the opportunity to compete for the prize.
  7. The shooter will start the competition from the mid court line and will have 90 seconds to sink as many baskets as possible by running to one end of the court and then shooting until a basket is sunk. Once the ball has gone into the basket the shooter must then run to the opposite end of the court and shoot until the next basket has been sunk. The shooter will continue this running from one end of the court to the other for the entire 90 seconds until the whistle is blown. The shooter must bounce the ball as they travel between the goals and they cannot move from one goal area until a basket has been successfully sunk.

    Prize Pool is:

    Two Baskets Sunk in 90 Seconds - $500
    Four Baskets Sunk in 90 Seconds - $1,000
    Six Baskets Sunk in 90 Seconds - $2,000
    Eight Baskets Sunk in 90 Seconds - $4,000
    Ten Baskets Sunk in 90 Seconds - $8,000
    Twelve Baskets Sunk in 90 Seconds - $10,000
     
  8. An IFYS Foster Care Adjudicator is to control and oversee the conduct and security of the Competition, from the drawing of a contestant to the conclusion of the Competition.
  9. Upon successful selection of an eligible contestant (the Contestant), the Contestant will be invited to enter the basketball court to take a shot or throw with a basketball (the Shot) strictly in accordance, with the steps outlined in Section 7 above.
  10. The Contestant, and only the Contestant, may take the Shot and the Contestant will not be permitted to: a. nominate an alternate, substitute or replacement contestant to take the Shot; b. have any practice or warm up shots; or c. receive any coaching between the selection of the Contestant and the taking of the Shot.
  11. Non-compliance by the Contestant with any of these Terms and Conditions or with any requirement or direction issued by the IFYS Foster Care Adjudicator will render the Competition, and any right or entitlement on the part of the Contestant otherwise arising from it, void.
  12. The result of the Competition declared by the IFYS Foster Care Adjudicator is final and no further correspondence will be entered into.
  13. This Competition is intended for bona fide participants and it is a requirement that all participants, including the Contestant, act in good faith at all times.
  14. IFYS reserves the right, at any time, to verify the eligibility and bona fides of participants and Contestants and to disqualify any Contestant whose participation is not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.
  15. If for any reason the Competition is not capable of being conducted as planned, whether caused or contributed to by weather, technical failures or any other cause or circumstance beyond IFYS’ control which may affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or lawful conduct of the Competition, IFYS reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify, suspend or postpone the Competition.
  16. The Contestant consents to IFYS using their name, likeness and/or voice in any media for an unlimited period for the purpose of promoting the Competition, IFYS and/or IFYS’ services.
  17. IFYS and its affiliates, subsidiaries and related entities, or any of their employees, officers or directors, shall not be liable for any loss or damage howsoever arising as a result of a participant's or Contestant’s participation in the Competition or any such, alteration, suspension, discontinuance or termination of the Competition or any substitute event, and any such liability shall be borne solely and exclusively by the participant or Contestant, as the case may be.
  18. By attending and participating in selection for the Competition, all patrons, participants and Contestants will be deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions.
  19. By proceeding to participate in the Competition, including attempting the Shot, the Contestant will be deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions, including the conditions or requirements in relation to the Shot announced by the IFYS Foster Care Adjustor at the Competition prior to the Contestant attempting the Shot. 20. The promoter of the Competition is IFYS Limited ACN 131 388 102 of Dalton Drive, Maroochydore, Queensland 4558 (IFYS).
